Boonton Avenue firehouse must be replaced

In a Suburban Trends interview in February 2006, KVFC firefighter and Kinnelon Mayor Glenn L. Sisco disclosed what firefighters have known for some time, that the Company 2 firehouse on Boonton Avenue is no longer adequate to house today's fire trucks, and must be replaced with a new, larger building.

Over $500,000, possibly over $1.0 million will be needed to do the project, money that our independent non-profit corporation, which provides fire protection to the Borough of Kinnelon, doesn't now have.

Planning continues. We have recently secured permission from the State D.E.P. and the Highlands Commission to expand the building. Mayor Sisco gave the Kinnelon Planning Board a preview of the construction plan at its meeting on October 4th.

Watch this space for further developments. It is hoped that voluntary private financial support... donations from the citizens of Kinnelon, will finance the renewal of our Company 2 firehouse.
